Jackie Lowe originally trained as a menswear designer and now lives and works in East Hampshire. Jackie studied Fashion at university and worked for companies in the UK and overseas.
After raising a family, she retrained as a secondary school teacher of Design Technology and became Assistant Headteacher.
Leaving education, Jackie was approached by a friend who wanted her to repurpose her late father’s suit into something that would forever evoke memories of him. Jackie designed a shoulder bag converting his suit into a stylish accessory, that her friend could take with her every day wherever she went.
Trading as Bags of Style, and to counteract the throwaway nature of the fashion industry, she repurposes the finest quality worsted and tweed fabrics from once cherished tailored jackets and coats into individual handmade bags, where no two are the same.
Recycled fabric bags designed and made by Jackie Lowe can be found for sale in our Artisan Gallery in Chichester. Pop into 58 North Street to discover more in person. You can also visit the artist‘s Instagram page via the link below to learn more about them or discuss ideas and commissions directly.
